Piercing Aftercare Instructions

  • Ear Piercings

    • Spray your piercing/piercings twice a day, front and back using sterile saline solution

    • Do not sleep on it or apply any pressure on it

    • Keep dry and hair dry your fresh piercings after showering or washing your hair

    • Do not touch or twist your fresh piercings

    • Make sure to downsize your jewellery 6-10 weeks after your piercing, this is essential during the healing process

    • Do not clean your piercing with dettol, betadine, or alcohol. These products will just irritate the piercings

    • Ear lobes take 3-5 months to heal

    • Cartilage piercings like Helix, Conch, Tragus, Forward Helix, Daith or Flat can take anywhere between 6-12 months to fully heal

    • Healing time depends entirely on how well you look after it

    • For faith and tragus piercings, please avoid wearing headphones that go inside your ears, if comfortable you can sometimes where beats. Once they are healed you can wear headphones again

    • Try and wear your hair up as much as you can during the healing process, to prevent hair becoming tangled or caught in fresh piercings

  • Septum Piercings

    • Septum piercings are the fastest healing piercing and from my experience the easiest piercing to heal

    • They take about 6 weeks to fully heal

    • Do not touch it while it is healing

    • If you need to flip up your septum piercing for work, try and leave it flipped down whenever you’re not at work just so it doesn’t warp while healing

    • When you flip up your piercing, make sure your hands are clean, use your thumb and index finger to hold both ends of your curved barbell and flip back up into your nose while stretching your face/nose using the “mascara” facial expression (if these instructions do not make sense, feel free to email or message us)

    • Spray twice a day using sterile saline solution

  • Navel Piercings

    • Navel piercings take 6-9 months to heal

    • While it is healing please make sure you’re not wearing high waisted pants as these will irritate the fresh piercing

    • Make sure to hair dry your fresh navel piercing while it healing. Moisture can become trapped in that area easily. Wounds need to stay dry so they can heal

    • Do not touch your fresh piercing

    • Avoid swimming for at least a month, if you’d like to swim sooner please choose the ocean over any chlorine pool

    • Avoid changing it until it has fully healed

    • We recommend starting with basic jewellery while it is healing to avoid any unnecessary irritation

  • Nostril Piercings

    • Nostril piercings take roughly 6-9 months to heal

    • It is important to start with a stud and change it to a hoop after it is fully healed

    • If you change to a hoop prematurely, you may develop irritation bumps or an infection

    • Use sterile saline solution spray twice a day

    • No touching it

    • Be careful with any make up products or fake tan in that area. Avoid getting any product in or around the fresh piercing

    • Be careful if you have a flu, cold or runny nose. Gently wipe your nose or clear it in the shower

  • Nipple Piercings

    • Nipple piercings can take 6-12 months to fully heal

    • Spray them twice a day with sterile saline solution

    • Be careful of towels, loofahs, lace or fish net clothing, these things can get caught on the barbells and snag/pull at them. This is extremely painful and can cause severe damage to the fresh piercings

    • It is not abnormal for nipples to swell after they have been pierced, we always pierce them with longer bars to accomodate for that swelling. So make sure to come back into the studio for them to be downsized 8-10 weeks post piercing

  • Lip/Oral Piercings

    • Any piercing in or around the mouth will usually heal fairly quickly, in about 6 weeks

    • Do not smoke or vape during this healing period

    • We suggest avoiding spicy foods during the healing process

    • Oral piercings swell usually, we start off with a large bar and we downsize around the 1-2 week mark

    • If you use mouth wash currently you can keep using it, it is not recommended to start using it just because you have a fresh piercing as this could cause irritation

    • Spray it twice a day using sterile saline solution

    • It is important to be aware that any oral piercing can effect your teeth or gums
