Frequently asked questions

How long does a piercing take to heal?

Healing can take anywhere from 3 months to a year. Cartlidge piercings generally take the longest. The more you disrupt the healing process the longer it will take, so bumping, sleeping, touching, fiddling, or prematurely changing the jewellery will result in a longer healing time and may lead to an infection.

What can I do to prepare for a piercing?

Have a good meal beforehand, as this reduces the chances of feeling lightheaded or fainting.

Will my piercing hurt?

Piercings do hurt, the pain is a quick pinch, over before it even begins. Some areas hurt more than others.

What are the age restrictions for piercings?

In NSW you must be over 16 and provide photo identification.

For a nipple piercing you must be over 18 and provide photo identification.

If you are 14 or 15 you must be accompanied by your parent and you both must provide photo identification and a birth certificate or medicare card to also prove the parental link. (This does not apply to piercing parties, they are strictly 16+)

Do you use piercing guns or needles?

I only use disposable piercing needles as they are more hygienic. The relative sharpness compared to piercing guns also provides a smoother entry through the skin, allowing the piercing to hurt less and heal faster.

When can I change the jewellery?

Most piercings require a larger bar to allow for swelling. Once the swelling has reduced it can be ok to downsize the bar. Otherwise, it is best to wait until the area has fully healed.

Can I use my own jewellery to get pierced with?

I prefer to provide the jewellery as I know the quality and have sterilised it prior. However, I may consider your jewellery if I can determine what it is made of and is suitable. A sterilisation fee may occur.

Numbing the area before piercing?

Generally, this is not worth the time or the money. Piercing is a very quick process and is over in a flash. I do not provide numbing cream, but you are welcome to numb the area beforehand. Numbing creams generally need to be applied around 30 minutes beforehand, so read the instructions.

Do you do walk ins or appointments?

Yes! I love walk ins. Appointments are also available. You can book here.

Can I swim with my new piercing?

Swimming should be avoided for the first two weeks. Salt water can assist in the healing process. Chlorine pools are also ok, but just make sure you dry the area after swimming.

How do I know when my piercing is healed?

The best indication of it being healed is that the soreness or tenderness is completely gone and the area has lost all dryness and redness.

Can I see some of your prior work?
